Thursday, July 12th, much better day from a pain management standpoint. The sharp intense pain in my index finger and middle finger was definitely not as bad as it was on Wednesday. That was a crazy day. I really feel for people who live in pain like that and I can see why people would come dependent on pain killers or other methods to get rid of it.
I really would like to thank so many of you who reached out and offered your support, prayers, experiences etc. with me. It is amazing how many people will be there for me when I need them.
Thursday I got some body work done and did my normal routine for my back and shoulders. Pretty uneventful day outside of that. There was still some pain and tingling in the two fingers sometimes spreading in the whole hand.
The hardest part of Thursday was remembering Wednesday. I don’t like to live in the past, but the thought of the pain I was in and whether or not it would come back was in the back of my mind. Those thoughts are not healthy buy they sure are hard to overcome. Just think about all of the areas of your life where you are harboring things that have happened in the past and you let them affect your present state and sometimes your future state. Notice when that happens, acknowledge it, then PRAY and use new affirmations to get you back to the present and focus on the NOW and what you can control.
The most therapeutic things that I can do always seem to be the same things that everyone else talks about and write about. I will share them with you again:
- Pray, the power of prayer is amazing! Pray for others, pray for healing, pray for strength, pray for love, pray to give, pray for forgiveness, pray for grace.
- Journal – Keeps me in the NOW. Helps me focus on what I can do and what I can control.
- Affirmations – Present tense, I AM, personal.
- Visualizations – I visualize healing. Visualize the vertebrae separating and making more room for the nerves to heal. Visualize dominating an ANW course:) Visualize no stress! Harmony.
- Gratitude – This is part of my journaling but now more than ever I am grateful for what I do have. When in pity party mode, just give of yourself to others who are even less fortunate and all of the sudden your pity party goes away.
- Nutrition- you have to eat well to live well. Saw this quote yesterday – “You are what you eat ate”. So basically, when you eat something you have to consider what that ate or where it was grown. Think about that for a while. Let it sink in. Think about all of the food you eat. Where did it come from and what might it have gone through to get to your mouth.
- Meditate – new for me but very powerful in relaxing and reducing stress. Like I wrote about in a previous blog, 90% of neck/back injuries are causes by tension stress and lack of oxygen in the muscles. Meditation has been proven to help that.
- Live above the line – Be honest, live with integrity. Be honest with yourself the most. You are not as good as you think you are. I know I am not. Hire a coach and get someone to tell you what they really see vs a sugar coated version.
- Forgiveness- Never hold a grudge or resentment towards others as this is the ultimate in stress. Holding onto any negativity in relationships is not good. The biggest person to forgive is YOURSELF!
- Give – I mentioned this in number 5. Give of yourself, your time, your talents, your being. Give however you can. Give without any expectation of receiving. Give unconditionally. You will never regret it.
I could call those my 10 commandments but those are already done and way better than mine.
To your health and abundance,
Steve Aune
