Day 12, The Road to Recovery, C7 Steroid Injection

Tuesday, July 17th, was a pretty good day from a pain management perspective.  The tingling in my hand was reduced a bit, still having some pain in the very tips of my index finger and occasionally my middle finger.  My neck has been getting sore and that has not happened much since my injection  The soreness seems to migrate to my arm a bit as well.  Sure hope that is part of the healing process where it is working its way back to the origin.

Started icing 10 min on, 10 off, 10 min on last week.  Try to do it in the morning and at night.  Over the weekend I got in several rounds of it each day.  Seems to really help.

I think I mentioned in past posts regarding my tight chest/neck muscles, especially on my left side.  That has been getting really tight again as well.  I have been spending more time in the morning and at night trying to stretch and loosen those muscles.  The relief I get when I do that really leads me to believe that my tight chest/neck is a major contributor to my neck issue.

Tight Chest leads to tight neck muscles that attach to your rib cage, sternum & clavicle, in the front of your body.  Check out the photos.  Mine are all super tight and thus pull down on my skull putting pressure on my spine.  Compound that over time and you have bulging discs.  The message here is don’t just focus on your traps and the back of your neck, you have to keep the muscles loose on the front of your neck and chest as well.

Really interesting when you look at what all of those muscles are controlling and how when they are restricted, the kind of damage they can do over the long haul.  Find someone who can help you get those tight muscles unbound and loosen them up so that you can move your head and neck freely.

It really makes me reflect on our posture and how sitting all day hunched forward staring at a computer will really start to compound a problem in these areas.  Even a stand up desk, which I use daily, can cause problems if your posture is all jacked up and you have a little forward tilt of your head.  Holding your head one inch forward about doubles the weight of your head on your spine.  Think about that compounded over time.

Had a really great day nutritionally yesterday as well.  Working on intermittent fasting where you don’t eat for 16-18 hours.  For example, I eat dinner around 6pm.  My next meal should not be before 10am.  When I have that meal it should be foods that will keep my glycemic index down and increase my good fat intake to put my body in mega fat burning mode and in a state of ketosis.  My DNA is sensitive to the amounts of fat I can take in and process, so I have to be careful what types I consume and how much.  The bigger factor how many carbs I take in and when I take them.  It is amazing how fast the carb intake ramps up even when you have a salad.  I use Cronometer by Dr. Mercola.  It is a great app that tracks your food intake.

In my excitement to go hiking, here is a shot from the top of Redcloud peak in the San Juan’s of Colorado.  Stay in Lake City or Camp somewhere around there, it is a beautiful area and the hiking is amazing from there.

Looking forward to a better day today!  My purpose/Why:  To make as big a positive impact as I can in the lives of as many people as I can so that they are inspired to DREAM BIG, take action, to do more and be more.

To your health & abundance,
